While the theme song in Transformers say “Transformers More Than Meets the Eye”  I would say that  talbos ng kamote is unknown Transformers member (laughter side).  If transformers are robots in disguise, well this green leafy tops  or talbos ng kamote is a leaf in disguise as well. Why? Continue reading to find out.

Talbos ng kamote or a sweet potato tops is one of those vegetables that can be easily grown in the backyard. In fact, it does not require fertilizers to grow and I have been told that it is good alternative to rice. Hmm….sounds good but what talbos ng kamote makes so interesting is the health benefits it gives.

These green leafy tops have the highest content of total polyphenolic, among other commercial vegetables studied.  Wondering what is Polyphenolic? If you are looking for a vegetable with an excellent source of anti-oxidative stress compounds, then talbos ng kamote has it.

The polyphenolic protects the human body from oxidative stress associated with many diseases: Diabetes (Type 2), Cancer (colon & Stomach) Cardio vascular diseases, problems on bowel movement, lower blood sugar and cholesterol, kidney stone, boils, and acne.

Talbos ng camote is a good source of protein, minerals, dietary fiber and nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorous, sulfur, iron, and zinc.  It is also an important source of vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, and ascorbic acid. Indeed, talbos ng kamote is pack up with many health benefits that help us to stay healthy all the time.
