Meet Pearl & Claude, Siberian Huskies

Howdy Folks! It's been a while since my last post. Well, one thing that motivated me back to writing here is our family's two Siberian Huskies. It felt like there's a lot to tell and share about these two fur babies of the family. The reason why the family decided to have a dog is because of my granddaughter. She wanted to have a fur puppy since she was three years old and since she is 9 years old now, we figured out she'll be able to take care of the dog, of course with the help of the grown-ups in our household.

With no further ado, let's start with Claude. Claude is a male husky. We got him last year when he was just around 10 months old. He has tricolor; white, red, brown. He has long legs and big paws by which we can tell he will a big husky. The breeder told us that he is the Alpha and so meaning he will be a handful. I will tell you more about that in the next blog. As to this date, Claude is already 10 months old and his birthday is coming up in May, yay!!!

Around October, we decided to get another husky, a female husky. Like Claude, we got her when she was 10 months old. At first, my granddaughter called her Crystal because she is white. But when we get to our house, we heard that our new neighbor's name is Crystal, oops, and so, we decided to change her name coz we don't want our neighbor to think that we kept on calling her ;) My granddaughter gave her another name, Marshmallow, but there were three syllables in that name. Same that time, my brother-in-law gave us a ring, and hearing we got a new white dog, he suggested a name, and it's Pearl. The name does fit our female husky's personality. Pearl is six months old now and as of writing, she is on her first-day heat. Ohhhh,,, lots and lots to tell being a first-time huskies owner.

How about you my friends, any story as a first-time husky owner?

Nail Arts (Re Post)

Ok, folks, let us have some girlalu (girl) talk this time. Most women are crazy on manicure and pedicure. Even in the times of earliest civilization, women used various forms of colors or dyes to decorate their nails. In the last couple of years, a new method of decorating the nails comes into being. Wonderful creativities are coming out in varieties of nail décor, which is known as Nail Arts. As we see, there are different nail arts available at any beauty supply store or any mall.

When I was in the Philippines, I am hiring somebody to have my nail done, although it was just a plain manicure and pedicure. Yet sometimes I had one manicurist who has a little talent in the art so she would put designs whenever she had to do my nails. I really loved it whenever she would use a glittering heart or star shapes for design.

Now, I am in the USA and everything is expensive, especially if you still have that hangover of comparing the price from dollar to peso… ;) I cannot spend money every two weeks to pay a nail technician or artist to paint nail designs of my choice. More so, I do not have the nice finger shape, mine is short and crooked. Having all the nail arts and readymade nails with stunningly different designs I thought of pampering my own nails and let out a little artist in me. I just cannot have my fingernails longer because it would be hard for me to play the guitar, lol.

Well, for these past two months, I already made three dots designs and gave a name to each one of them.
Blue Flower in Pink
Arrow Dots
Leafy Dots

So, how about you, what designs have you been making for your nails?
Have a happy Saturday;)

White Christmas

Still managed to pose as the snow starts to pile up. Perhaps I could still say one famous line from " Let It Go" Song, the cold never bothered me anyway, even I am having pain in my right knee due to osteoarthritis (rayuma).hahaha...One more thing, that was yesterday, the day before Christmas and we are having a Winter Storm. Must be a lot of people dreamt of a White Christmas. Our celebration of Christmas went pretty well.

Pass the WORD: BEING HAPPY FOR OTHERS by Fr. Nick Lalog

Why is it easier for us to cry with others, even with total strangers like the TV drama actors and actresses we follow daily than to rejoice with others’ joy? Why is it that when we see someone crying, we are softened by the scene, we are touched, even moved with pity especially if something bad happens to him? There’s nothing wrong with that and it is even good because we sympathize with others’ pain or suffering. But how come we feel irritated, even look with disdain, when a group of people is having fun at the next table at a restaurant? Why can’t we laugh or smile when other people are happy?
Jesus is teaching us in today’s Gospel that we are all blessed and that we must share that joy of being blessed with others. There are times when we feel life is unfair, but the truth is that we are so focused with the blessings of others rather than on what we have. What we need is a new attitude towards God’s goodness in the great blessing we have in Christ Jesus, like St. Paul who boasts, “For to me life is Christ.” What else can we ask for when we have Jesus who would never leave us nor fail us unlike people or wealth or fame?
God’s ways and thoughts are different because He is not concerned with wealth, power, or fame — the very things we humans are so preoccupied with. If someone has more, we want to have much more. This envy brings us apart, cheapens our very being, forgetting the most important must-have in life — God Himself. How ironic in this age of so many goods, we have become so envious of what others have, unlike before when there was only one TV set at home, one phone line, or even one set of clothes when we learned how to share and defer to others whatever we have. Notice how much joy and love we had 30 or 40 years ago despite the lesser things we used to have than today. We tend to forget our humanity when we get so focused on material things, that we are brothers and sisters equally blessed.
---------- REFLECTION QUESTIONS ----------
What is your attitude when good things happen to other people? Do you share their joy or think negatively of them? Are you generous in complimenting others? Examine your attitude about the joys and blessings of others.

Lord Jesus Christ, wash away my selfishness, cleanse me of my envious ways, and enable me to see others as brothers and sisters in You. Amen.

Phrasal Verbs with FALL

Time check it's 12:19am, Saturday, and it's the second day of Fall for this year 2017. For this, allow me to share with you some phrasal verbs with the word FALL.

1. Fall For - develop a romantic attraction to someone, fall in love.

I can't get you out of my mind. I think I fall for you. So, I decided not to talk to you anymore.

2. Fall Apart - break into pieces

I knew that ladder with break into pieces that is why I told my friend not to climb on it.

3. Fall Through - be unsuccessful, usually with plans

I was about to meet my daughter's tutor today but the plan fell through because my car's engine overheated.

4. Fall Behind - not make sufficient progress, to stay on schedule

I kept on procrastinating doing the report. That's why I fell behind schedule.

Palarong Pinoy - Feast Video Wayne Annual Picnic

Palarong Pinoy, yes you read it right! That's what we did on this year's annual picnic which was held at Lakeside Beach, Port Huron on August 13, 2017.

T'was so much fun and everybody had a good time doing some of Philippines' Palarong Pinoy.

First, we played Tumbang Preso. The players in this game must throw their slippers from behind the toe line, usually 4 meters away from the center, where the can is placed inside a drawn circle. The "IT" ( which is me, (sob) ) can tag anyone holding a slipper who is past the toe line. Players can continuously kick or knock down the empty can once it is out of the circle. Kicking a slipper is forbidden. If the can goes out of the circle after being hit but is still standing, the guardian can tag the hitter once beyond the toe line.

If a slipper goes inside the circle at the center, the "IT" can place one foot on the can and the other foot on the slipper. If the "it" does this successfully, the owner of the stepped-on slipper is the new "it"

Second Pinoy game was Lawin at Sisiw. On this game, one player is chosen as the Lawin (hawk) and another as the sisiw (hen). The other players are the chickens. The chicken stand one behind the other, each holding the waist of the one in front. The hen stands in front of the file of chickens preventing the hawk from catching them.

Third game was not purely Filipino game for this one has been know worldwide - Tug of War.  We do not have rope and so we had to use a beach towel. This game directly puts two teams against each other in a test of strength. Teams pull on opposite ends of a rope, with the goal being to bring the rope to a certain distance in one direction against the force of the opposing team's pull.

The last game we did was "Batuhang Bola"; by the name itself  you can already guess how to play this game. Well, the group was not able to follow the mechanics correctly but for future reference here's how the game should go.Two teams try to hit the opposing team with a ball thrown from two sides. A point is granted with every hit on the opposing side. The two teams are Offensive Team and Defensive Team. The Offensive team is the shooter while the Defensive team is the deflectors.

Do not be surprise of the ages who played on this game. We may look like once upon a time but we are still young at heart.

Fall Bulletin Boards 2017

I haven't done bulletin boards for 8 years. What's odd was that the bulletin boards I had to make were in preschool. This was so Greek to me because I used to teach 4th graders for twelve years. Good thing there were bloggers who took time to share and post them on the internet; and so, I had the chance to browse and choose from the different ideas on fall bulletin boards for preschools.

#fall2017 #fallbulletinboards For the theme "FALL in love with Learning" I use construction paper in the color orange, green, yellow, orange, and brown for the leaves and pumpkins. The tree branch was made of tissue paper and I use felt paper for the letter cutouts. I bought the scarecrow at Dollar Tree.

#starstudent #bulletinboardideas I got this idea from Bulletin Board Ideas Blogspot. Use all construction papers for all the cutouts in this bulletin board. The traced hands were from my preschoolers and from my granddaughter.

#circletime #morningmeeting I still have to finish my morning circle board. This is what I have for now. The materials I use here were all bought from Target.

Wayne MI Chapter : Feast Video Recap Nov. 15

Glory to God to the following feasters that  attended the Feast Video; Melanie, Jaemel, Naty, Gary, Maricel, Ynah, Rocky, Nina, and Pk. I pray that the other members who didn't make it will be able to give it a try next time. As for the topic that we listened and shared with "Thank God I'm Filipino TGIF" was inspired from the book of Nehemiah 2:1-6.

Nehemiah’s Prayer Answered

And it came about in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of KingArtaxerxes, that wine was before him, and I took up the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had not been sad in his presence. So the king said to me, “Why is your face sad though you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of heart.” Then I was very much afraid. I said to the king, “Let the king live forever. Why should my face not be sad when the city, the place of my fathers’ tombs, lies desolate and its gates have been consumed by fire?”Then the king said to me, “What would you request?” So I prayed to the God of heaven. I said to the king, “If it please the king, and if your servant has found favor before you, send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs, that I may rebuild it.” Then the king said to me, the queen sitting beside him, “How long will your journey be, and when will you return?” So it pleased the king to send me, and I gave him a definite time.

The talk was all about giving and sharing. That true joy, real happiness only comes from a Big Heart. To be truly happy, a person must forget himself. In order to do this, there are 3 things that a person must do; 1. Choose people with Big heart as Heroes. 2.  Hang out with people with Big Heart. 3. Hug other people's pain, suffering, and hunger. The Feast video ended with a sharing on "If you have a few million pesos, what would you do?  Greatness is measured not by what you have but by what you give. Greatness is innate in every Filipino.

Pass the WORD: Preacher in Blue Jeans " To Whom Do You Go"

Normally, to keep the body hydrated a person has to drink at least eight (8) glasses of water a day. Likewise, I thought of hydrating my spiritual needs regularly and one way is a regular dose of everyday spirituality from "Preacher in Blue Jeans". As the talks presented in the video uplifted and inspired me I pray that it will do the same way to you who will give time to click and watch the video.
