NMEDA: Key to Quality Transportation

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Aside from teaching job, I also work as private sitter during weekends. Have you imagined how hard it is assisting a client especially when he/she is disabled? It is so uncomfortable for both of us going to a store, church, or clinic or even just inside the house. Thus, the inability to move independently adds frustration on my client. Yet,NMEDAgives it a break. As the company saying goes “Transportation is the key to freedom; NMEDA is the key to quality transportation.”

Let me tell you first about the company. The National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) was founded originally in the state of Florida in 1989 to ease the mobility of people with disabilities. NMEDA is a non-profit trade association so; they not sell anything at all. They educate consumers on buying products from a NMEDA qualified dealers, manufacturers and rehabilitation professionals.

NMEDA has two important aspects, which is the NMEDA Certified Dealers and the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) dealers. The former are the ones who sell handicap vans and vehicle modifications for disabled people. These dealers (members) are required to adhere to the safety standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and to follow the NMEDA guidelines. While the latter is a recognized accreditation program for the mobility equipment industry developed to satisfy customers consistently and make sure customers are getting the best mobility product. The QAP is the only program of this nature developed for the mobility equipment industry. Likewise, some states now require a dealer's participation in the QAP to carry out work for the Vocational Rehabilitation Program.

Each individual is unique and it goes with the disability. Each person with disability has different special needs. In NMEDA, a client will undergo a personalized “in-person” evaluation; to make sure he/she is getting the right driving solution fitted to his/her specific lifestyle and needs. Thus, whenever you need additional training or product refinements, NMEDA certified dealer is there to help you.

As I was saying earlier, NMEDA made it easier for my client, her family, and me. So, what are you waiting for? Visit the site, hit the dealer locator, type in your zip code to find qualified dealer near your area. Spread the news, and let your elderly people feel how it is like to be back onto the road of independence.
