Happy Halloween

Google’s logo features Scooby Doo’s Scary Scene. Halloween that is annually celebrated on October 31 is surely one of the most favorite holidays primarily in the United States, Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. For this post, I wanted to share what I read on some safety precautions to take in common activities for Halloween. Thanks for News and Tribune.com for these tips.

See and Be Seen

• For greater visibility during dusk and darkness, decorate or trim costumes with reflective tape that will glow in the beam of a car’s headlights. Bags or sacks should also be light colored or decorated with reflective tape.

• To easily see and be seen, children should also carry flashlights.

• Teach children to never assume they are seen by a vehicle. Small children may be especially difficult to spot in the dark.

• Remind children to look both ways before crossing the street.

Trick or Treating

• Due to the number of children out on the street on Halloween evening, motorists should be especially careful driving along city streets, especially in neighborhoods, during designated trick-or-treat hours.

• Trick-or-treaters should use sidewalks instead of the street whenever possible and always cross at crosswalks.

• Young children should always be accompanied by an adult or an older, responsible child.

• Make sure older children trick-or-treat with friends and carry a cell phone for quick communication.

• Children and their parents should be cautioned about accepting unwrapped treats.

Costumes

• When purchasing costumes, masks, beards and wigs, make sure the label says “flame resistant.” While this doesn’t ensure these items won’t catch fire, it does indicate the items will resist burning and should extinguish quickly.

• To minimize the risk of contact with candles or other sources of ignition, avoid costumes made with flimsy materials and outfits with big, baggy sleeves or billowing skirts.

• Apply a natural mask of cosmetics rather than have a child wear a loose-fitting mask that might restrict breathing or obscure vision. If a mask is used, make sure it fits securely and has eyeholes large enough to allow full vision.

• Swords, knives and similar costume accessories should be of soft and flexible material.

Pumpkin Carving

• Children should never carve pumpkins.

• Children can draw a face with markers. Then an adult can do the cutting.

Safe Homes

• People expecting trick-or-treaters should remove anything that could be an obstacle from lawns, steps and porches.

• Check outdoor lights and replace burned-out bulbs.

• Wet leaves should be swept from sidewalks and steps to avoid slips.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN;)

Trick or treating, dressing up in a spooky costume, and eating ghoulish food like Halloween cupcakes are the most common thing in celebrating Halloween.
Halloween cupcake designs are meant to be fun.

6 Essential Qualities of Science Fair Project to Make It Award-Winning

An award-winning science fair project possesses the following qualities: It clearly presents the proper use of the scientific method; it exhibits creativity; it shows clarity; it reveals mastery of the topic; it possesses great display quality; and it reveals good technical skills.

If you want your science project to win the big event, you need to put on some hard work and apply the right techniques. Your project should possess qualities that judges and spectators are looking for. Here are the most important features that your project should have to make it award-winning:

It clearly presents the proper use of the scientific method

Following the steps of the scientific method is the foremost quality that judges look for in a science project. See to it that you have clearly identified your question or your problem. Make sure that you have done a thorough research and you have conducted the experiments in the right manner, considering the different variables involved. The data you present must also be accurate and clearly evident in your written report. Finally, your conclusion must be able to answer your problem and is supported by the data you presented.

It exhibits creativity

The backbone of award-winning science fair projects is creativity. Judges will see how creative, resourceful, and practical you are in gathering your data as well as in your experimentation, most especially with the equipment used. It is also very important for your project to be original and unique from among others.

It shows clarity

A great science project must also possess clarity in every aspect, starting from the statement of the problem down to the display. You must be able to clearly state and organize your problem, hypothesis, data, and solution in a logical manner. Your display must also be able to clearly convey its message to the spectators, even to those who are not acquainted with the subject matter of your project.

It reveals mastery of the topic

Every science project involves interview from the judges and some questions from the spectators. It is very important that you master every detail of your project. Be ready for certain questions that involve changing some variables in your experiment, so make it a point that you truly comprehend the nature of your project. You must also be able to thoroughly understand and explain your display and how it plays an important role in conveying your message to the spectators.

It possesses great display quality

Your display need not be too showy to make it to the top spot. All you need to do is to make it neat and organized, as well as uniquely creative and appealing to your audience. Make sure all the relevant details are emphasized in your display. All the headings, labels, tables, pictures, and charts in your display and your written report must be simple and clear, but not boring, to make it pleasing to the eyes.

It reveals good technical skills

Award-winning science projects also possess great technical skills. Your display must be strong and sturdy. Reports must be well-written with careful consideration to spelling, grammar, and sentence construction. Ideas must be presented straight to the point without much flowery words. It is also important that you do majority of the project by yourself or your group. If assistance was given, it must be properly acknowledged.

Getting your project to win the science fair is not an easy task. You need the right motivation by choosing a topic that interests you most and by focusing on your goal, which is to win. As long as you have the right attitude and the right techniques, you are sure to make it to the top spot.

Mellow Yellow Monday

Is this how zombies were born? Well they could not even sing the kiddy song “I have two hands the left and the right “or cannot even clap using one hand, lol. Yet when they hear a rapper says, “Put your hands in the air,” for sure zombies would reply, “Put your hands up for Halloween.”

Have a happy preparation for the Halloween;)

Thanks Drowsey Monkey for this meme.

From My Own Nail Salon

Ok, folks, let us have some girlalu talk this time. Most women are crazy on manicure and pedicure. Even in the times of earliest civilization, women used various forms of colors or dyes to decorate their nails. In the last couple of years, a new method of decorating the nails comes into being. Wonderful creativities are coming out in varieties of nail décor, which is known as Nail Arts. As we see, there are different nail arts available at any beauty supply store or any mall.

When I was in the Philippines, I am hiring somebody to have my nail done, although it was just a plain manicure and pedicure. Yet sometimes I had one manicurist who has a little talent in art so she would put designs whenever she had to do my nails. I really loved it whenever she would use a glittering heart or star shapes for design. Now, I am in the USA and everything is expensive, especially if you still have that hangover of comparing the price from dollar to peso… ;) I cannot spend money every two weeks to pay a nail technician or artist to paint nail designs of my choice. More so, I do not have the nice finger shape, mine is short and crooked. Having all the nail arts and readymade nails with stunningly different designs I thought of pampering my own nails and let out a little artist in me. I just cannot have my fingernails longer because it would be hard for me to play the guitar, hahahaha. Well, for these past two months, I already made three dots designs and gave name to each one of them.

Blue Flower in Pink

Arrow Dots
Leafy Dots

So, how about you, what designs have you been making for your nails?

Have a happy Tuesday;)

Mellow Yellow Monday

Geeez….thank God bees are not big as this flower. It will be very scary being bitten by a bee. Bee stings are painful and at other times, it is deadly. It depends if the person is allergic to the venom. So, it is best to remove the bee stinger right away to reduce any reaction to the bee venom.

Have a mellow Monday to all;)

Smiley Saturday

smiley-saturday-2.JPG

A man called to testify at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), asked his accountant for advice on what to wear.

"Wear your shabbiest clothing. Let him think you are a pauper," the accountant replied.

Then he asked his lawyer the same question, but got the opposite advice. "Do not let them intimidate you. Wear your most elegant suit and tie."

Confused, the man went to his Priest, told him of the conflicting advice, and requested some resolution of the dilemma. "Let me tell you a story," replied the Priest.

"A woman, about to be married, asked her mother what to wear on her wedding night. 'Wear a heavy, long, flannel nightgown that goes right up to your neck.' But when she asked her best friend, she got conflicting advice. Wear your most sexy negligee, with a V neck right down to your navel."

The man protested: "What does all this have to do with my problem with the IRS?!"

"Simple", replied the Priest...

"It doesn't matter what you wear, you are going to get screwed!"

Another First

Howdy fellas, guess what gift I received this month. A good and caring friend of mine bought me an FG700s Yamaha Guitar from an online guitar store. Actually, I still have my old one which we bought at Gibraltar for 20$ only. Are you thinking if I am good in playing the guitar? Nah…honestly, I do not play well. I just love picking up a guitar and play few songs that I love to sing on my own beat. I just really love playing the guitar and having fun while doing it. It gives me the feeling of being outside of the world. It is so peaceful and relaxing while expressing myself by strumming and singing.

Looking Back…

I was in sixth grade when I started to get interested in learning how to play the guitar. From then on, I have been always amazed to those who were good in playing guitar. I grew up seeing my cousins and his friends jamming every night in the front yard and at the front porch, what we call “hagdan na bato.” My cousin “Kuya Boyet” serves as my inspiration in playing guitar. Aside from being super good in this music, he is a good painter as well. So, like my cousin’s buddies pastime, my friends and I did the same thing. Chie, one of my friends, is blessed with this talent. She would be our guitarist whenever we were jamming. “A Horse with No Name”, “Hard Day’s Night”, “and Teach Your Children” were our top three songs that time. Most of all, I could not forget the Christmas carol nights that we had. We received 5peso to 10peso from each house. We were so happy because we were earning more money as the nights went on. Then on Christmas Eve, we would count how much money we earned and we would divide the total amount to each one of us.

Now…

I am still trying. I have always loved playing guitar although guitar does not like me much, lol. I cannot even learn finger styling. During my free time, I would watch free lessons online and I even subscribed so I can learn more. Yet, one thing I am sure of now. With my first Yamaha guitar, I will enjoy more while playing, strumming, and singing my favorite gospel songs, worship songs, love songs, and country songs.

Read & Pass the WORD

On the lighter side;)

One day, a Genie appeared to a woman and said, “This is your lucky day! I will give you 3 wishes.”

“Yeheey!” the woman squealed.

“But on one condition,” said the Genie, “Whatever you ask for, your husband will receive 3 times more.”

The woman frowned, “What? But I hate my husband! He’s a despicable man!”

The Genie shook his head. “I’m sorry. I’m the Love Genie. I repeat: What you ask for, your husband will receive 3 times more.”

The woman said, “Oh, okay. My first wish: Make me very rich. I want $1 Million.”

The Genie asked, “Are you sure? Your husband will have $3 Million.”

She says, “Oh, never mind. What is his is mine and what is mine is his.”

“Very well then!” the Genie said, and with a wave of his hand, and “Poof!” the woman had $1 Million—and her husband had $3 Million.

“My second request is that I want to be very beautiful.”

The Genie asked, “Are you sure? Your husband will look like Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby and John Lloyd put together. This is very dangerous. The girls will flock to him.”

The woman said, “Just as long as I’ll be beautiful.”

And with the wave of his hand, “Poof!”, and she became utterly beautiful and the husband three times more handsome.

The woman then said, “For the third wish, I would like to have a very mild heart attack.”

Lesson: Whatever you give to yourself, you give to others more. If you like yourself, you’ll like others too. If you dislike yourself, you’ll dislike others too. Because life is a mirror. What you see in others is a reflection of what you see in yourself.

10/10/10

Time flies so fast. This date was the first day I set my foot in the U.S. of A. I can still remember the feelings of excitement I had that day. My port of entry was in Los Angeles. Me along with the two Filipina teachers rode a cab going to the hotel that we were about to stay in overnight. The next day, Monday, we went to the Social Security Office to apply for our SS number but to our surprise, the office is closed. Why? We did not know that it was Columbus Day. It is one of the country’s national holidays. At the middle of the day, we had to leave L.A. California and flew to our assigned destiny-àLouisiana. We reached Baton Rouge Airport almost late at night. Our principal and his mom were there to meet us at the airport. Ms. Dolly, our principal’s mom drove us to our dwelling place, which she owned. We cannot forget that night. The fridge is full of foods, wow; Ms. Dolly might have been thinking we were starving, lol. The first night we stayed had some funny stories to tell. We just had our dinner and while getting ready for bed we thought that the earth was shaking. We were so afraid because “Katrina” and “Gustav” was still fresh in our minds that time. Yet thank God, it was a false alarm. The place we stayed in was a mobile house and just a half-mile away from the railroad. It was a train that passed by in its nightly hour. The next day and the rest of the days were another full-mixed emotion and more stories to tell.

I Love to Hear You Laugh (repost)

Once again, here in my classroom, the noise of the boys in the first and second row triggered my head to burst. How many times have I called their attention since they still have seatworks to do. But I just could not imagine how could they do such things: doing seatwork at the same time bullying.Unfortunately, when its time for me to check their work, much to my dismay they have not yet written more than a single letter of the alphabet.
"What attitude do you, boys, have?" I uttered irritatingly. I was losing my patience and eventually decided to give what they deserved-remain standing for the next 30minutes and one week cleaners. I was in the middle of my tirade when my message alert tone caught my attention. Still with irritable feeling, I held out my cp and began to read a message from 777
I LOVE TO HEAR YOU LAUGH - GOD....Whew! what a real shame, I guess God had really seen me in my cannot-be painted-tiger-like facial expression. I sat down, took a deep breath..inhale...exhale...breathe in...breathe out...I prayed. I asked forgiveness I ended my prayer by giving Him thanks for He never fails in keeping in touch with His people . He always connect even in cellphone.

Make the New Move with PS3Move

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PlayStation MOVE. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am lying on the couch, bored, and trying to find something good on TV when I heard a knock at the door. I opened the door; it was a genie walking by me and to my living room. When I asked him what he was doing, all of a sudden, I have a wireless controller in my hand. The genie set the game and we started playing archery. At first, I did not know how to do it but using the controller, I started playing and shooting with a bow and arrow. I felt I am pulling a bow so real. I had my arms and shoulders worked out doing that. When I looked down at the little genie, he was gone.

Phoof! It was a dream. I realized I must have fallen asleep. I looked at my playstation3 and I decided to turn my laptop on and checked the latest on playstation network. There it goes; flashed before me a new playstation Move which is available in the market. I purchased it right away. Believed it or not, the day I got my playstation move, I started calling my brothers, and before I knew it, more family members were over checking out my new controller. We were so excited to play different sporting activities like golf, gladiator duel, volleyball, archery, table tennis, and bocce. These games allow us to keep our bodies in motion. Just like when we play golf, this allows us to be on the green without leaving the house and for sure, this is a good bye for Putt Putt Fun. This is a golf all you want for a onetime fee. As the days went on, it felt like it was turning into a competition of skills. It seems like when my friends and family are over the playstation 3 is always turned on and played since I got the MOVE bundle package.

I am calling all playstation lovers, try this, and get into moving. Feel the energy of real motion gaming just like the pros for only $99. Buy the Move bundle package and ask anyone who knows about playstation 3 how exciting this is going to be. Watch the motion and all you have to do is repeat the same motion that you see. For sure, every active gamer can now work on his coordination and his health while having fun at the same time.

September 4th to October 5th is Teachers Month. I want to share some famous and popular quotations for teachers.

If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got. -NLP adage

A teacher’s purpose is not to create students in his own image, but to develop students who can create their own image. –Anonymous

The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires. -William Arthur Ward

The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called “truth.” -Dan Rather

Sunny Sunday: Teaching a Parrot to Talk

“ohhhh…I love me,” Sunny must have been saying that phrase every time he is in front of his favorite mirror. He would say in a parroty voice “a kiss...a kiss...pretty bird” and he would stay in front of the mirror all day. Guess he is so happy seeing his own reflection and even thankful that he is not the only bird in the house. There were times that we would just have to take the mirror so he will do other activities like playing or so we can get his attention.
Are you wondering how did Sunny learn those words? Well, every time we have to do something we say the word as well. It is saying the same word with the same activities. We call it learning by association. Just like for example, when we kiss him, we would say “a kiss… a kiss...” The same thing he does when he is front of the mirror, looking at his reflection he would kiss himself and utter the word. The more he watches us, the more he acts like us. When people in the house get loud, he gets loud as well especially when he wants something or when he is unhappy.
Therefore, the next time you feed or bath your budgie, clean a cage, walk in or out of the room, consistently associate your activity with a phrase. It is the best way to get your parrot communicates with you.
Have a nice Sunday;)

Flight Attendants Choreograph Safety Features

Hurray for Cebuanos! I am not a native of Cebu but I truly admire them for their excellent talents especially when it comes to singing and dancing. When it comes to dancing, I am a fan of Cebu’s inmate dancers and I have been using their videos for my dancing routine. Now, here comes the Dancing Flight Attendants on Cebu Pacific Airlines. The smiling flight attendant dance to the beat of Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, demonstrating the safety features of the aircraft: using the seatbelts, lifebelts, mask, and paying attention on the emergency exit. In addition, they also remind passengers to read more on the safety insertion card for further information.

I want to thank the person who took this video and shared this on You Tube “wingco1129.”
